1948 and for many years was in retail operations until
Petro-Canada emerged in
1975.
BP Canada was created over the years from merger and spin-offs of number of companies:

BP Canada, although it has a very "green" image will be anything but if it proceeds with its latest proposed projects in Alberta's Oilsands, and a massive coalbed methane development adjacent to Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, and just south of Banff-Kootenay-Yoho National parks.
